Welcome to the Guest Gallery!
This If you own a Renault 18, feel free to send me some pictures of it.
Also feel free to let your creativity flow, have some fun with a photo editor and
make something weird out of a Renault 18.
To start of with I Present you the first real virtual
Renault 18 on this page: it's a Silver Blue Renault 18 Great Trash Limousine. (My youngest
brother always claimed the letters GTL stood for "Grote Troep Limousine", which
translates approximately down to the above). Only one car of this type was produced... :-)
Please e-mail your pictures to
richard@renault18.com
THANKS!
HAVE FUN!!!
PS: This page is becoming quite packed with pics, so it might take a
while to load completely...... |

This R18 is my first car and it didn't
take long before I became a R18-fan. I bought this one only a few months ago
from someone who stopped driving
because of age. This car is a R18 GTL and in
perfect condition (full maintenance every 1000km!). It had only 37000km when
I bought the car (which is some 20 years old)! That's somewhat 2000km a year,
increadible! There were new
tires on and I paied only 200 EURO. One could say that I bougt some
tires and got a car for free whit them ;-)! The
Car stil looks extremely fine, the previous owner always used gloves to
drive and there had never
sitted someone on the backseed. In other
words, a bargaine of a lifetime!

From
the land down under |

I love the
internet more and more each day! E-mail from literally all over the world
finds it’s way to my computer. From Australia Dave and Donna wrote:
Hi from the land down
under ! l'm Dave and l live in Melbourne Australia. In fact l'm the vice
president of the Renault Car Club of Victoria. I was really happy to find
your site! to see there is alot more people out there who love their R18s as
much as my wife and l do. we have two at the moment, an 81 GTS 'Sahara'
metallic wagon which unfortunately is waiting to die (l'm finding it very
difficult to put her down particularly after seeing your site) and the love
of our life (after our two boys) a white 79 GTS sedan, modified with a 2
litre Fuego engine and gearbox. (l like to call her a replica GTX). when my
wife first came into our Renault mad family she swore she would never own
one. l already had the wagon (after going through an R6, 2 R12s and a R12
virage) when the club had our All French car day for 1999 and there she was,
with a for sale sign in the window. I had to stop myself from jumping for
joy when Donna (my wife) quietly said 'if l ever own a Renault it will be
one like that' so she sold her 91 Daihatsu charade and bought it! this is a
pic of her and her baby. since then we have had 3 other 18s that we
bought and stripped for parts. well that's a little bit about us, great to
see your site and look forward to hearing from you .
P.S.
the 18s have an older sister, a R15 TS that l run on club registration.

from Wim Werkhoven |

Wim Werkhoven from the
Netherlands owns a superb R18 from 1980. At the moment (March 2004) it is
for sale. And I must say this car is tempting! Wim's grand father was the
first owner and the car has been stored dry for most of it's life and comes with a complete maintainance history.

Maltese
R18 |
|
This worn down R18 GTL
belongs to Alexei Pace. Fuel consumption has become quite high, so this R18
probably will be replaced in the near future. One positive point: Sunny
Malta is an exelent place to prevent your R18 from rusting a away!

Anton Baier
from Tyrol in Austria sent me this pics from his R18 break 4x4 . He wrote:
this R 18 GTL Break 4x4 I bought in spring
1993 and I`m still driving it. I like it that much , sure it has a name -
bimbo - , as it is reliable , low in consumption and repair
costs , superb traction up to some 100 km/h ( due
to the concept of the 4wd and the short 2,4 meters distance of the tires -
lot`s of other car drivers
can not believe when they got overtaken in bends and would not see me
anymore ) , never a problem with robery ( up to now I went 4 times to the
very south of spain , 4 times to the south of Italy , among other travelling
around ) so it has some 300.000 km and it seems it can do much more.
Sure you have to take care , especially with
corrosion - in Austria the bastards put tons of salt on the streets in
wintertime for all those helpless 2 wheel driven cars -the
engine get`s special candles and some Mathe`-additive time by time. It`s
the classic GTL-version build in 1983 with the first dashboard ( which is
much more sympathic as the type 2) , 1647cm3 with 79hp , no electrical
suspend shit (windows, doorlocks etc.) and I want to drive it to the very
finish. Luckily there`s another
break 4x4 from 1985 with excellent bodyworkcondition in
the garage to be continued . bye
P.S.
first photo taken in the Sila-mountains, Calabria - Italy , after some
offroad fun in spring 1998, second photo taken a month ago in the tyrolean
mountains withunfortunately low snow
